[TRANSCRIPTION] I want to share a quick story with you…
I was talking with a new client of mine the other day. He has a little bit over $100 million in assets under management, generating close to $900,000 in recurring fees, feels pretty good about his business, but it’s not quite there.
He wants to do more.
He wants to be a bigger presence in his community.
He wants to bring on bigger client relationships.
And he thinks that the way to do that, or he thought the way to do that, was to invest in lots of really expensive marketing programs.
And the funny thing is, this guy knows more about marketing programs and training programs than I ever will, and I hate to admit that, but it’s true.
He is an encyclopedia of some of the best training in the industry. But he’s also a perfect example of paralysis by analysis. He has too many ideas.
He doesn’t have a clear picture of what his goals are. He doesn’t have a clear picture of what the primary activities are that will lead him to those goals.
So, I stripped it all away.
I said, “Joe, what we’ve got to do is we’ve got to silence all that noise that is in your brain that is causing you not to do the things that will matter, because there’s so much stuff getting in the way. You’ve got to stop being a perfectionist.”
And what we’ve done is we’ve spent some very specific time talking about creating clear goals for his business.
We’ve made them simple, and he’s really going at them now in such a way that every day, every day, he feels like he’s actually working towards those goals…
Where in the past, in the not-too-distant past, he thought, you know, I’m doing stuff but I don’t feel like I’m making progress.
I’ve got him working on things where he knows he’s making progress.
And that’s what we all need to do in our businesses.
No matter where we are, whether we’re struggling we’re trying to break out, whether we’re on a plateau and we’re trying to get to that next level…
Whether we’re super producers and we just want to do more…
What are the simple things that you can do in your business that cut through all the clutter, that cut through all the BS, that cut through some of the industry lies and lead you to taking your business to your next level of success?
I probably say this too much, but it’s simpler than you think.
It’s just a matter of having a conversation, whether it’s with yourself or with a mentor or somebody like me, and really understanding what is it that will make the biggest difference in your business if you’re trying to reach that next level of success.
I’d certainly like to help, so let’s get on the phone.
Thanks for listening.
